The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020

Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

Assad To be Sacrificial Lamb For Turkey
Putin Will Be Making The Biggest Mistake Of His Life - which could Even cost him The Presidency.
Why is Russia so confident it can work with Turkey - to dispose of Assad (don't all Western Powers?) - and that something won't go wrong (caused by suicide bombing sponsored by Turkey) soon after Assad is gone into retirement armed with explicit guarantee for his and his family safety and headed to his ancestral coastal fortress - and the peace that Russia and Turkey came up with with the approval of Iran was shattered. What then? Bring back Assad? Russia is crazy to force Assad's hands like this, especially when he's stronger and increasingly stronger now - just to get credit for ending the war? Checked.
It won't work, and when that happens you can not say OK we will try something else and hopefully it will work next time, for the cost of that failure will unfold a carnage that is ten times worse. Russia should think carefully before being out-maneuvered, if not misled, by this slick president of Turkey. I don't believe this was not a plan mooted by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan himself at sometime or other during his course of meetings with Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader no doubt is a very intelligent man, that's why he's Russian president, but even a very intelligent man - say, even more intelligent than Putin - can make mistakes in judgement, and he's about to make one unless he steps back or someone closest to him tells him to. He's about to make the biggest mistake of his life, if you will. The mistake which may even cost him his presidency! Checked.
Assad is the man Syria and The World Need!
It's ridiculous to remove Assad - or endlessly call for his removal just because the Western media which became tools of the new world order spear-headed by Barack Hussein Obama and George Soros say he's evil or a dictator slaughtering his own people. And who are these so-called "his own people?" These Syrians they referred to as "his own people" they may be Syrians but they have chosen sides; they joined anti-government demonstrations orchestrated by Obama during the height of Arab Spring, they have to pay for their mistakes. No government in the world would tolerate that - none. For those who were innocent civilians, who may have been misled by Obama in joining anti-government demonstrations in the beginning and ended up being killed or taken hostage by jihadists or other Muslim extremists all can be said for them was: too bad. Some may be even hating Assad now after after their loved ones were killed by government fire (directed at rebel-controlled areas).Checked.
Russia should not be naive. President of Turkey is a clever man - a slick one, if you will - who can out-smart anyone in negotiating deals. With Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, forget about out-smarting him - stick to avoiding being out-smarted by him. When he makes a mistake - like recently shooting down Russian fighters over Syrian air space - never expect him to back down. He won't. He rushed to ask NATO of which Turkey was an important member to demand protection. Russia knows how strong is NATO. So, Russia shelved its plan to impose sanctions or whatever against Turkey which Turkey can call an act of war - a war Russia is likely to lose. Putin in the end fell victim to a shrewd Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Checked.
Erdoğan Intent
Erdoğan, to be fair, openly called for Assad's removal, dead or alive. So, he's ready to have a deal with anybody who can help dispose of Assad, for Assad is stronger than Erdoğan and stands in the way. If Assad is removed or has powers reduced to a lame duck president, Erdoğan can proceed with his plan to rule over the Middle East. If the deal works as planned, the the fate of the Kurdish militias would also be on the chopping block of the tri-partied agreement. The pezky Kurdish militias now had become deadly militias against Erdoğan's ambitions topped the list of anything he despises the most, and wishes for their destruction. Checked.
Betrayal of A Friend
If Putin succumbed to Erdoğan's maneuvering and got convinced enough to throw Assad under the bus - which Russia or Putin would find hard not to do as, as I mentioned the president of Turkey is known for his getting his way most of the time, Turkey will promise even the moon! to Putin. Once Assad is gone Turkey with help of NATO which bombed Libya to smithereens earlier, remember? will over-run Syria, and both Iran or Russia will not be able to do anything. And Assad would face the same music President Mubarak did! If Putin got sold on the idea by Erdoğan that he would be the hero of the Arab world as the man - the only man on the planet - who could get rid of President Assad, he would be known as a scum of the earth who betrayed a friend. And the bad news for Putin is no matter what Erdoğan promised him, Russia's role or standing in the Middle East would soon be forgotten as the Americans would descend on Syria with glee, and may even ask Russian fleet to leave its naval base. Checked.
That's, if Assad is an obedient friend who readily caves into the tri-partied demand he leaves office and be replaced by another Alawite leader - to assuage the apparent injustice. No man in his right mind would leave or compromise when he is in the position of strength. Although he owed a gratitude to Iran for sending Hezbollah to help him, Assad survived not because of help from friends like Russia although he's grateful to Russia for the help from them, basically he survived because of his tactical genius and his formidable army and overwhelming support of his people. Period. Checked.

Angela Merkel Deception
Angela Merkel Would Stay The Course Until She's Toppled. Period.
Was Angela Merkel a changed woman when she emerged to rail against the burqa after realizing her so-called compassion for Muslim refugees in general and Syrian immigrants in particular had become increasingly unpopular among Germans, and on the verge of changing her policy? That may be so, but only to those supporters of hers who lack ability to dissect her true intention. Checked.
You don't need rocket science to be able to see through her opaqueness and slick maneuvering to trick the German people to allow her to lead for another five years - by pretending to act tough on burqa but avoided saying anything about rolling back her open-border policy.Checked.
Chances are she would ban the burqa. You know why? Because she knew banning the burqa will be no big deal to the Muslims - not at all as the burqa wearing is not widespread; few if any Muslim women in Germany, will miss it. Except, in places where Muslims or the wearing of Islamic dresses have not yet been accepted. They will kick up the fuss and become sulking in order to win sympathy. In Germany, they have moved past that threshold long ago. Checked.
The Chancellor knew she could fool the German voters again by seeming to be harsh against her beloved Syrian refugees for a while. Poor Germans - they had been had by their own kind who they believed cared for them. Checked.
Wake up Germans. Stop being so trusting. Look around you. What had happened to Denmark, Sweden or Austria? Open your eyes. Europe is upside down! Do you know who made this happen? Angela Merkel? No, not exactly. It was President Obama of the US! Lest you don't know, the man who had won the Nobel Prize without having to do anything, unless you want to reward him for winning the American presidency. Checked.
Angela Merkel or Hillary Clinton, if you have heard of her, both were President Obama's stooges carrying out his plans to bring back the glories of his ancestors' religion. Islam! Checked.
Did you all really fall for his ruse that he's a Christian? Checked.
Maybe not. But here's a thing you should ponder on. Obama had been systematically dismantling America from day one of his presidency. Christian America, or used to be before the 2008. Now you have to say Happy Holiday even though it's on Christmas day, instead of Merry Christmas! He never badmouths Islam, or called Muslim terrorists radicalized Muslims or extremist Muslims. Even a crazy Muslim army officer gunned down 13 young soldiers in Fort hoot about to be shipped to Afghanistan was not punished by Obama. His reaction to those murders was summed in one word: "incomprehensible." And he had been filling America with Muslim refugees - even from Somali! Checked.
The fact that America had not been totally destroyed was not because Obama didn't want its destruction but because he didn't do it in blatant way and that needed more time which had saved America - it resulted in his having not enough time to completely destroy America. Like Britain which a British leader said recently that Britain still could be rescued from the Muslims if we act fast and firmly. We should rally to support a new leader who is not liberal and who doesn't subscribe to multiculturalism! That's the only way for the West to survive. Checked.
