Again, this proved that the Malaysian Chinese Association has really completely lost its usefulness. If a small matter like Jonker Walk closure was beyond its power then, that 's it.

The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020

Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

A lot of water had flowed under the bridge since the Brexit referendum.
Many approaches, invitations, representations, appeals, tricks, brain-washing, arm-twisting, lobbying, and
finally threats - which mean the same thing - (might) have been made to Tory MPs by the EU or 27 EU members who have
a lot to lose comes the 2019 divorce, to persuade or brain-wash them, promise them something, or even worse, they
being Remainers, themselves went rogue and turned traitors to Brexit voters, and by extension, their country.
The tiny minority who turned against the British people and sided with the EU should be rejected. Although only
a minority their actions encourage the EU leaders to extract maximum damage from the UK..to discourage other EU
members from also leaving. This is true judging by the utter unreasonableness of the EU posture which hardened
everyday. And the persons to blame for encouraging Michel Barnier to be extreme in his demands are the government
MPs who hesitate to solidly back Theresa May in her hour of need. This is true judging by the outburst from Heidi
Allen that quote: “If fighting for the best possible future for our country and our government is considered mutiny
– then bring it on," that they chose EU over Britain or British people - they should be discarded when they seek
reelection in the near future!. Did she call capitulating to EU demands 'fighting for the best possible future for
the country and government?'
Another Tory MP by the name of Anna Soubry was also furious to have found herself listed among others under
the 15 Brexit Mutineers" label on the frontpage of the Daily Telegraph. She accused the conservative paper of
bullying against MPs who opposed putting date in the Brexit bill currently going through parliament. And guess what?
The media can also accuse them, all of them, of effectively being Gina Millers!
What about them bullying the prime minister? They knew the prime minister May needs all the votes she can get,
and yet she and other mutineers saw fit to decide to deny her their votes at this critical juncture. Isn't that
trying to align with the EU posture or demand? And could she answer what is so good about the EU that made her want
to stay put. Everyone knows the EU block is crumbling made so by the invasions of millions of Muslim immigrants.
Other EU members led by Italy are waiting for their chances - it's a matter of time they when they make their moves.
That's why the EU leadership went rogue - to try to stop the UK from leaving. And the 11 that betrayed the
government actually played into the hands of Brussels (who must have watched their every move).
Since the referendum was over and Article 50 had been triggered and there's no turning back, why can't she and
her colleagues accept the process without trying to sabotage it. It would be futile for her gang to hope to prevent
Brexit but could hurt the British people.
Although she was defiant by describing her listing as one of the Brexit traitors as 'a Badge of Honor', there
is no doubt she had been rattled and unsettled enough to adopt a 'bring it on' posture. But don't they know that by
bowing to the ridiculously unreasonable Eu 27 who wanted to milk the Brexit cow until dry, they could put off many
loyal supporters. For if the British people see her or deem her as working for the interest of the EU, she could
lose her seat in the next election. Don't challenge the British people who have been voting for you to serve them -
not the EU 27!
The British media cannot be blamed for being pro-Great Britain. Their beef is with the unreasonableness of the
EU demands, especially the divorce bill. The pro-British-people papers are not corrupt and are just like the
guardians of the British and have been looking out for them so religiously for generations. They cannot be
manipulated by promise of quid pro quo. Checked.
Theresa May needs the support of all Tory MPs including the so-called Brexit Mutineers in order to resist the
unjust demands of the victimizing EU 27, and take Britain out of the EU whether there is agreement or not if they
persist in trying to bankrupt the UK!
What if they pressured the prime minister too much and she called for general election again? Aren't they worried
they may be deselected as Theresa May may feel it would be pointless to allow them to contest as voters may not
support them anymore.
In view of the recent defeat suffered by the government in the Commons, and their uncompromising attitude in
their statements, May owes it to the Brexit voters to try to get out of the post ill-advised general election
quagmire by going to the polls again.
