The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020

By:David Lang

Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

'MCA go home' vs 'Where was DAP 13 years ago?' at Jonker Walk

'MCA go home' vs 'Where was DAP 13 years ago?' at Jonker Walk
What?! Gan qualified his being there as a survey, not to protest? Let alone to lead the protest? Did Mr. Gan Tian Loo realize that the MCA protest carries more weight than DAP protest many times over. The state government, being UMNO-led government, considers the DAP as the opposition working hand-in-hand with PAS and PKR to oust UMNO from power, rescinding the directive on the request from DAP leaders will make the party even more popular. I thought, at first, here come the MCA, finally to do what it's supposed to do. Then the expected  happened. He got cold feet. The reporter who covered the protest reported Gan was suddenly cautious . He was like ..."I'm here to lend my support to..the .. no, wait! I am not here to support the traders - but just to do a quick survey! But I am glad to be standing here with the protesters but reporters, please put it down in black and white I am not, I repeat, am not here as part of the protest. This is the reason the MCA was shunned, I mean has been shunned by the Chinese. They do not represent the Chinese anymore. They cannot get things done anymore unlike in the old days. Gan admitted his meeting with the chief minister was fruitless, but would keep trying. Keep trying for what? He should stop embarrassing the MCA and reducing its credibility further by continuing to beg despite being rebuffed earlier. Again, this proved that the Malaysian Chinese Association has really completely lost its usefulness. If a small matter like Jonker Walk closure was beyond its power then, that 's it.

Donald Trump A Good Planner But Dismal In Executing His Plans

Trump A Good Planner But Dismal Executiner of His Plans

Trump was a great actor who like John Van Damme (a mixed-martial art champion who had heard about the reputation of a great Thai MuayThai champion extraordinary, Tong Po, who remained supreme and undefeated no matter how many mixed-martial art champions or other Thai MuayThai champions threw themselves at him - who had got a plan to do him in and emerged as the destroyer of TongPo by, er, luring him to act in his movie to be made, script-written, financed and directed by John Van Damme himself, based on a story of a super Thai MuayThai champion of same name humiliatingly battered to a pulp by John Van Damme) got a plan to make himself famous, and by hosting a reality show, Apprentice for many seasons which earned him pop-culture fame which helped him immensely in amassing billions but later also disposing of Republican opponents during the primaries before clinching the GOP nomination (the right to face Hillary Clinton in 2016 general election).

Although Trump's intention in hosting the Reality Show The Apprenttice was to make money and become famous, but many catch-phrases 'You Are Fired' later, he got to wondering what it feels like if he uttered those catch- phrases as POTUS.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Jokes aside, Trump should not have run for office, as his White House will not be a happy or hghly respected one. He will be envied, despised due to his success; and later due to his loose tongue and loose canon character. More often than not he would say things that disparage people and they would hate him for that. And he's cruless that his actions would not endear him to people, especially if he wished people to work with him rather than against him while in the White House. He unintentionally allowed the hatred and disrespect to pile up.

May be Trump is not aware he's a mercurial person. Which means he's a danger to Trump himself!

For instance, after agreeing to accept a recommendation from Rod Jay Rosenstein to fire James Comey, he should be thankful that he got rid of the FBI directer without firing a shot and would be none the worse after that. No, for not long after that in an interview with Lester Holt of NBC Nightly News who means him harm, he was literally led by the mouth like, er, sheeps to slaughter house.. to say, quote: "Actually, I planned to fire James Comey long before I received the recommendation from Rod Rosenstein!

That's it. That's what Lester Holt and his cahoots in the NBC had been praying for! With this admission Trump's presidency was doomed. James Comey would sure be furious and would drive another death nail into the coffin of Trump's administration.

Lester Holt and his cahoots would pop champaign and celebrate late into the night for this godsend which they can use to bring him down!

What a mercurial person!

What a clueless bliss! As we all know Trump's administration was hectored by all and sundry from day one. (From start to finish, if you will). And reasons are not hard to find.

When Billy Bush was hired by Hillary Clinton, and he purportedly showed a video showing, er, Trump boasting he liked to grab women by their pussies, he seemed to take it as a compliment. People - both his supporters and haters - are exasperated by his behaviors, plamboyant character. His rude run-down of his Republican primaries opponents while it secured him the nomination, it's hardly worth it as as it would transpire later all these leaders of the GOP none of them lifted a finger to help Trump in his hour of need when the Democrats, James Comey and Rod Rosenstein (old and new enemies) ganged up on him to charge him with a non-existent crime (Russian coalition).

While the charge was fabricated Trump was almost toppled (or impeached) due to the sheer weight of too many federal enforcement agencies personnels wanting to do him in.

Because of his, er, plamboyant personality no demonstrations of any size took to the streets to voice their objection to the clear persecution of their president!

And he could not count on British leaders of any parties or men and women in the streets in the whole of UK to defend him. He was as detested in England as in America!

Here's an anecdote to illustrate my point: When Britain First (Not Disimilar To His America First narratives), put out a video of Jihadists' cruelty in throwing a handicapped white boy from a window, Trump was quick to post tweets in support. But later when faced with ridicule especially by the British government under Theresa May he became wavering, and later even deleted his tweets as they were in support of Britain First an organization not favored by the British government and he was wary of causing backlash from the same.

When he was interviewed by Piers Morgan of Good Morning Britain's fame (not sure whether during his State Visit to Britain or somewhere else) it was the last straw for many. During the interview he was led by the mouth, again, like sheeps to say what many in Britain want to hear. That he regreted posting those tweets to support Britain First's action! Did he mean, the action of the Jihadists' ation in throwing the handicapped boy from the window was okay?

Even at this stage of my article it's become clear that Trump deserves what he got while in the White House. He literally courts trouble wherever he goes or does by his loose mouth.

China in its efforts to catch up with the US (to beat the US to 2nd place, if you will), will do anything to achieve its goal, and to worry about consequences later.

When president-lec Trump emerged he lost no time making known his concerns or policies he would persue, and started to rattle the Chinese with his intentions, the Chinese - from University Professors, to writers, academicians, analysts and even man in the streets, all called for their President Xi Jinping to have a summit with Trump - and as early as possible.

As first President Trump after safely inaugurated as the 45th POTUS seemed not excited about the idea, not so soon anyway, but China - and I mean the whole country - had their worry about Trump's intentions, and they wanted the summit between Trump and Xi even more.

The Chinese side aren't exactly scrupulous in their endevors, however: they (and I mean the CCP government including President Xi)) want to be able to stealthily carry on with their ambiguous activities in South China seas and build artificial islands there to, er, cement their claim on the arrea and once they were done, it would be too late for the US to object to their clandestine projects, and what better way than to distract Trump.

The Chinese, I repeat the whole country - were so eager to make the summit between President Xi and President Trump happen that they went all out with their efforts: they bought space in the most widely-read newspapers in the UK and Europe extolling the benefits of Trump-Xi meeting.

I bombarded President Trump with almost daily tweets to warn him of the uselessness of the president's summit with President Xi (who is well-known as a slick bargainer or negotiator). I told the president there's nothing to gain by meeting Xi as Xi was facing stiff political opposition back home in China then. It would be political suicide to offer Trump any concessions, especially over Taiwan and South China seas, which would weaken his position among the CCP members and leaders. The Chinese were fixed on their president meeting Trump because they were 100% sure Xi would not give but extract concessions from Trump! In another word, it would be futile for Trump and very good for Chinese interests if President Xi could get Trump to, er, delay his actions for few more months while China raced to complete their artificial island building, if you will, while Trump's being distracted.

Not that the Taiwan issue is not important, it was, but the clandestine project in South China Sea couldn't wait; it had to be completed before the US' uncle Sams woke up and threw spanners into their works!

But President Trump was not worried, he thought since he could rattle the Chinese he also could control them by being tough. Tougher than former US president Barack Obama, if you will. As evident, Trump got good plans but he's not a good executioner. His threats over China's currency manipulations or relook at Taiwan Act contained a measure of bluster.

And throwing cautions to the winds without knowing what he was getting the US into, he not only agreed to meet the Chinese super negotiator he also threw a grand party fit for kings to welcome Xi and treated him and Mrs Xi to his famous Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, where his granddaughter (who loves Chinese culture and speaks Mandarin) sang in Chinese (of course) to entertain the state guests during the grand dinner.

When he finally met Xi (and I was even afraid momentarily Trump dizzy as he's with all the excitement of welcoming Xi and Madame Xi would forget about the purpose of Xi's visit): he was, er, like the work of bungling amateur - he literally absolved China of all wrong-doings - saying how to accuse China of anything when they are our good friends!

Everything was forgiven and forgotten - Taiwan to be retaken by force anytime; artificial island clandestine activities, currency manipulations - all conceded to Xi without getting anything in return. Oh, except one - invitation to visit China no less!

President Trump should congratulate himself - or we congratulate him - for a job well-done. He had made China happy by agreeing to the summit the whole of Middle Kingdom wanted so bad that even their academics wondered out loud why?! Checked.

To sum up, we can say the good analogy is to compare Trump's much heralded summit with Xi to the UK's Theresa May's outing in Brexit negotiation. After what was touted by the prime minister (with a grimace) as the best possible terms she could get from the EU which she hoped the British nation would relent and accept, it was reported that the Eu team who negotiated with Theresa was shown at a news conference jumping with joy and patting each other in the backs over the concessions they had extracted from the prime minister!

In a nutshell, both leaders were equally qualified to negotiate for their countries: but both flopped. Abject failures. They should retire to a corner and lick their wounds or play with grandchildren.

Still, the nagging question at the core of this dizzy meeting was on people's minds were: how many concessions did Trump get from his counterpart? Apparently none, zero, except some usual niceties which the Chinese president was not short of: 'China wants to work with the US for mutual benefits,' and so on. 'And China welcomes President Trump to visit China as soon as possible!'

After they were done, the Taiwan Act which Trump earlier stated he might want to abrogate and let Taiwant rejoin the UN as a vetoe-holding member, was still in place; and China didn't slow down let alone stop its land grab in South China Sea. So..so much for Trump being a stronger leader than Obama until he rattled China. In the end he (to be fair) didn't do worse than his predecessor, nor better. True, Obama didn't dare hand over Jerusalem to Israel but neither did he allow China to grab the South China Seas! So..a draw! Checked.

Hell Tour Anyone?

September 27, 2021 Updated Today:September 27, 2021

What I think? I think it would be one helluva tour. But I don't see why would people want to go to a place like that; a place of misery, where extreme forms of pain and torture are inflicted, or believed to be inflicted, to make life there ...well...hell!

While there's no denying the intriquing side of it, such as the spookiness emanating from it which some may find to their liking, I am deterred - or shall we say spooked - by the absence of guarantee given by the organizers ...that one can return safely.

That I cannot compromise. And I don't think anyone would either.

The eeriness many can't avoid feeling when they look at the billing for the tour is unmistakable: 'Tour To Hell Anyone?' Notice the glaring absence of assurance (in conjunction) such as : 'Dont Worry It's Safe; No One Will Be Left Behind; You Can Go To Hell And Return!'

:

Here's a thing. Not only I will give it a miss but also think this type of tour will not be a sold out one ... for obvious reason.

A trip To hell A trip of No Return Notice the spooky title? Okay, if you're tired of life because the old hag (your once young and beatiful wife) at home has made it miserable by becoming old, this may be what you're looking for. You don't care whether the tour was billed as a "Tour To Hell" with the words "And Back" greyed-out. The greying out was not by accident; the tour leader, who happened to be Rev Khek, never promised anything: whether you could see hell, experience hell, or two giant woks boiling and torturing sinners; or meet departed family members or friends. But nevertheless he assured all and sundry, it can happen. You can go to hell and meet your loved ones if you can believe in what you are doing and focus. You're in trance for the duration of the tour. Physically you stay put in you seats right here in this physical world in full view of your family members (to watch over you). Only your souls lift off and depart. While the Rev Khek doesn't promise no one will be left behind, he can snap you out of the trance upon his return to his body sitting among you.
