The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020
By:David Lang
Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

'MCA go home' vs 'Where was DAP 13 years ago?' at Jonker Walk
What?! Gan qualified his being there as a survey, not to protest? Let alone to lead the protest? Did Mr. Gan Tian Loo realize that the MCA protest carries more weight than DAP protest many times over. The state government, being UMNO-led government, considers the DAP as the opposition working hand-in-hand with PAS and PKR to oust UMNO from power, rescinding the directive on the request from DAP leaders will make the party even more popular. I thought, at first, here come the MCA, finally to do what it's supposed to do. Then the expected happened. He got cold feet. The reporter who covered the protest reported Gan was suddenly cautious . He was like ..."I'm here to lend my support to..the .. no, wait! I am not here to support the traders - but just to do a quick survey! But I am glad to be standing here with the protesters but reporters, please put it down in black and white I am not, I repeat, am not here as part of the protest. This is the reason the MCA was shunned, I mean has been shunned by the Chinese. They do not represent the Chinese anymore. They cannot get things done anymore unlike in the old days. Gan admitted his meeting with the chief minister was fruitless, but would keep trying. Keep trying for what? He should stop embarrassing the MCA and reducing its credibility further by continuing to beg despite being rebuffed earlier. Again, this proved that the Malaysian Chinese Association has really completely lost its usefulness. If a small matter like Jonker Walk closure was beyond its power then, that 's it.

What About Kratom Leaves
Kratom leaves or juice is no more dangerous or addictive than beer or booze; it cannot be compared to heroin as it has only mild form of opiate which can do you more good than harm.
The case cited in emergecy room mentioned in the article was laughable. From what I gathered the guy could even suffer a withdrawl from drinking Swiss Nescafe.
The writer must be needing to write this article bad, so he had no choice but to create his own case histories and was lucky the mentioned doctors were forthcoming enough.
Anyway the insinuation that 'Kratom' leaves or its juice is dangerous remains laughable.
After the article appeared I went to meet a few old men in a village in Kedah, Malaysia, and this was what I gathered: "What, Kratom leave dangerous? Then we would have been dead long ago," was one man's indignant reply. Another old long-time user concurred, "After I chewed Kratom I could work longer and carry heavier loads without feeling any effect at all. How can that be bad?" All the senior citizens admitted they have been using Kratom leaves for years without any side effects. They even cheekily recommended that I should try it. Which I did, but not there and then.
It was not easy to get yourself hooked on Kratom leaves because they taste awful, very unpleasant I should add, at first. But if you are friendly with regular users like the old guys I mentioned earlier, then with their help
your initiation could be less nauseating somewhat.
That said, I think the nauseating taste could help prevent many people, especially the young, from coming to use this wonderful leave. And that should be welcome by parents who worry about their children stumbling on Kratom leaves. They will assure you the nauseating is for a brief period only (momentarily), which for goodness' sake should remain a secret; after that joy, nothing but joy.
As for the warning that though Kratom leave has never killed anybody it is still considered a drug, hence should handle it with extreme caution, it is okay to err on the side of safety, and I will leave it at that.

Conan asked: "Are you surprisd?"
This is what I posted in my column on MSNBC Newsvine about the fundamental change that had taken place in America today.
By SyriaInTurmoil
Like Conan, when told by his foolish sidekick.."I think the gods are not pleased with us," asked: "Are you surprised?", I also ask the same thing: "Are you surprised?"
America, friends, had become more American, or less American, depending on what degree or premise it affected us.
Of late, it seemed, some sides had become very intolerable of others, their beliefs, their philosophies, even their harmless indulgences or hobbies. They were quick to complain if they felt there was a perception, even just perception, that their rights were being violated, no matter how slight. They could make a fuss over nothing. Islam phobia is their favorite defense when their actions cause an upheaval and attracted criticisms. Another favorite mode is to hide behind their minority rights. These people's greatest desire is to be allowed the carteblanche to do as they please within their community and within the larger society for which they deem as their undeniable right. But these same rights they have no qualm to deny them to others. For the Muslims, all roads are one-way and they lead to Islam. For instance, if you want to marry a Muslim woman, you have to become a Muslim; there is no other way. Period.
Let me make clear to everyone here that in a Muslim majority countries, Christian rights are not only violated but trampled on. In these countries, the Christian hardly dare to even breathe, for Christ's sake. If they try to be helpful to, say, a poor Muslim, for example, they are accused of trying to proselytize Muslims, and an official investigation will be launched. Their (the Christians') protests of innocence are ignored. Of no importance.
But here in America they (the Muslims) are not like that; they are not that suspicious (not yet); they do allow whites (Christians) to help the less fortunate Muslims (if any) without jumping to the (hasty) conclusion that they are trying to proselytize the Muslims. Thank God, it hasn't come to that in America. We can consider ourselves lucky.
Even though the problems of Muslim's insensitiveness are on the rise, we are still comfortable, and still don't lose our sleep, yet. But things, though they are okay as they are, won't stay that way forever. Never forget that. These polemics will continue, they won't go away, unless we put our foot down. They are progressive. It may take another five years, or even ten, but don't kid yourselves, they shall come. You can safely bet your last dollar on that!
Just look at England, the greatest empire of all time, once occupied half the globe, the mightiest of all, if you will, it had now been reduced to live only to serve the Muslims who seemed to have Great Britain at their bidding. The British government, especially, will never come up with any regulation or action they deem may be viewed as being insensitive to the Muslims.
For instance, in England nowadays nobody thinks of putting up a public Christmas trees anymore, event hough it's the normal thing to do during the festival of Christmas. They claim they don't want to be insensitive to the Muslims. There you have it.
Of course, it's noble to be sensitive to others and their belief or culture. But do the Muslims feel the same way and...reciprocate? Going by what they dish out to the Christians in Muslim majority countries, I very much doubt that. But you can ask me whether it has happened in America? Yes, and maybe no! Or how about .. not yet.
But according to some people to whom I broached the subject, it had already happened. They lamented that all signs or insignia of God or Christianity had been removed from public schools or colleges or public buildings for sometime already. We had effectively joined Great Britain in capitulating to Muslims they said. There could be no more turning back...it's done; too late unless...
Do you know why this unthinkable thing which you had believed would never come to America - the world's only superpower - had come? Because we allowed it: foolishly or selfishly, I am not saying which. Maybe both.
But at the same time, we should not blame the Muslims for this malaise, but blame ourselves.
So it sort of came as no surprise when the Marine Corps squadron - which used to be called 'Crusader' for about 70 years, and had been changed to the present name which was 'Werewolves,' had decided to revere its long and proud tradition by reverting to its original name, which was 'Crusader', there was an outcry. It seemed the Muslims couldn't accept the word 'Crusader' as it refers to ancient battles between Christianity and Islam.
The name 'Crusaders' with the red cross and a shield as the insignia was deemed an affront to the few pilots who were Muslims in the squadron. Though the Marine Corps unit including its commandant explained,it was only an insignia, something they wanted to be identified with for pride's (not religious) sake, they couldn't do it. They were told to respect the religious freedom of others.
Although their motive was purely about pride and tradition and nothing else, their action was still interpreted as affront to Muslim faith as the word 'Crusaders' was there. They were deemed insensitive to the Muslims, just like putting up Christmas trees in public places in England (and in America) deemed offensive to Muslims.
By right, the Muslims, instead of hiding behind silence should feel embarrassed for being so pandered to, come out and insist the Christmas trees be displayed in public places in England or America as usual during the annual festival and prove they are decent people.
I have to say this, however, that surprisingly, in Muslim majority countries of Malaysia and Indonesia, Christians are allowed to display their Christmas trees wherever they please, as long as not at the mosques, I think.
What happened with the Marine Corps squadron actually was just a lark, nothing more, according the majority of the unit's pilots. Even the squadron commanding officer, Lt. Comdr. Wade Weigel was in support of the name change, saying: "I think using the historic name 'Crusader' was not problematic."
What happened with the 'Werevolve' fighter squadron was just a lark, nothing more.
But; "not so fast!" said the Muslim member/s of the same squadron or at least they found some naive or self-serving whites (yes, whites, maybe even Christian too, why not, it's more believable) to step forward to do their bidding.
This is how America will self-destruct.
We should not blame the Muslims for this malaise. It's we - or shall I say some of us, someone like Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, who encourages the Muslims to cry wolf; and cry wolf they did in this case! However, the surprising thing was Mr. Weinstein's aggressiveness in pursuing the matter. He even threatened to sue the government if his demand, to force the offending Marine Corps squadron to change from 'Crusaders' back to 'Werevolves,' was not met, and got away with it.
Why did he become so emotional? What made him so sure he could force the US government to capitulate?
Let me guess, the US government, as represented by the 2nd in command of the Marine Corps, and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, as represented by Mikey Weinstein, were what you can call like-minded.
Otherwise, no way Mr. Weinstein ever dared to put the Marine Corps in their place. He knew he could get away with it.
On hindsight, perhaps Mr. Weinstein could tell us what was so wrong about using an insignia to label the Marines' own unit as long as its members wanted it. How many Muslims were in the squadron? What the Military Religious Freedom Foundation wanted? Political correctness, again? I understand this squadron had the proud tradition of almost 70 years, and since when did Muslims arrive in this country (grew into a sizable enough number to challenge the status quo)? And when did Mr. Weinstein found his Military Religious Freedom Foundation? For what purpose? Let me guess, a few years ago (when this phenomenon about political correctness thingy started).
We should all congratulate this Mr. Weinstein for his job well done. He said if the Marine Corps ignored his protests, he would sue. Yes, he would do anything to protect the Muslims' religious freedom. However, he forgot to say 'Sorry' for violating the rights of the majority members of the squadron who had decided to go back to the 'Crusader' name for pride reasons only. Maybe the Military Religious Fredom Foundation was set up with sole purpose to protect not religious freedom but Muslims' religious freedom! So, Military Religious Freedom Foundation for Muslims would be a more apt, don't you think so? You couldn't say you didn't care about the unit's majority members' rights because they were not religious rights. Mr. Weinstein confirmed they were religious rights too since he or his Muslim friends were offended by the insignia.
So only the Muslims' religious rights matter? Not the Christians' religious rights?
While writing this post (on my desktop), I glanced at my laptop and saw another report: A Marine fighter squadron challenged on its use of the "Crusaders" name and cross and shield symbolism as its insignia has been ordered to reverse the decision, and return to identifying itself as "Werewolves," the Marine Corps said on Thursday.
Well, I want to ask again "Are you surprised."
Unfortunately for us, friends, this is the order of things to come in this country. You get into a tangle with the Muslims, you fight for your rights, get splashed on front pages, some politically-correct foundation steps forward to take sides, the Muslims' side, and your rights get swept aside!
Libya Was Destroyed By Obama And Hillary Clinton
This is what I wrote in a discussion on the mayhem afflicting the Middle East in response to two posts by fellow panelists, which I reproduce here.

Yes I wish Obama the great would shut the f---k up and stop telling other nations what
to do.
I wish Obama would move on.
We have seen the change that these revolutions have made, with the helping hand of the
US, and look at who is now killing and robbing those people, because of all that US
military BS freedom cry.
Obama can move on, he like many before him have gone out of there way to destabilize
these countries for the US agenda and nothing more.
I am sure the people of Lybia know how bad that BS freedom is right now since they no
longer have there homes, money, and a lot of other gifts that were given to them and
shared by the now diseased leader.
What a bunch of sh-it this democracy movement is, it is no more then the US dictating who gets what, and guess who gets the most?
That's right the US........the people are left to die or rot with there new US led brother-hood thugs.

Hillary Clinton has become a war monger to buttress her image
Shame on her

This is my two cents in response to your two no-holds-barred posts.
I used to admire and support theformer New York senator; but not anymore. But that doesn't mean I want to crucify her
every time I have the chance.
Much as I like to, I don't blame the Middle East's
mayhem squarely on Hillary Clinton. She was just carrying out her orders. She in fact is
humiliated every time she carries out her-opponent-turned-boss' commands. I sympathize
with her a little bit because, by taking the job the secretary of state she once and for all
torpedoed her own ambition to be president. And that took courage.
But why? Why
humiliated her husband (a former great president of all time, who could earn billions by
just humbling himself to accept some invitations), if, say, she was not averse to being
ordered around by her former rival, who was unworthy of even being her opponent in the
2008 presidential election. Obama had no credibility to even enter the race let alone
win the US presidential election. Obama did not even qualify to aim for the White house
as he did not prove his US citizenship. He is where he is today courtesy of a Federal
Judge who exercised - or shall we say abused - his judicial powers to wave through an
unknown man to the nation's highest office.
On hindsight, however, I don't
blame the justice concerned. The judge must have sensed the prevailing mood then and
responded accordingly.
The American people want to be vain and prove to the world
that their hearts were big enough to even accept a black man - even an unknown black man
from Indonesia - to be their president. They wanted experimentation. They wanted not
change "You can believe in" (as was Obamar's battle-cry then) but change they wanted to
experiment.
Hillary Clinton, who was as good as a shoo-in, was swept aside by the
naive American voters brain-washed 24/7 by the MSNBC sponsored stable of talk show hosts who
acted as if they couldn't care less about what would happen to America if the unknown
black man they were trying to help get elected, triumphed.
My only criticism for the
Secretary of State, if any, was her zeal in doing her job. Why she was passionate about
the toppling of Col. Gaddafi, Mubarak and Bashar a-Assad. Why behaves like her life depends on the demise of President Assad. Has the New York senator morphed into a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood? What has happened to her own conviction that MB was an evil organization out to subject the world to sharia law?
I did not realize that Obama's destructive influence on America after only four years was so extensive.
Honestly, I would shudder to think what will happen if the president should get another four years.
Don't take my word for it. Just look around you. Can you see any Christianity signs or emblems anywhere? Even public schools which in the past closely associated with Christianity, have been changed beyond recognition.
If you care to look deeper, a lot of fundamental change has taken place in America since the emergence of Barrack Hussein Obama. And all was not by accident!
If anyone says America has joined England in caving in to the demands of the Muslim minorities, I say he can say that again.

I envy this Snowwhite and Huntsman's director Rupert Sanders. In fact, I envy all directors. I wish I became a film director soon; so that I could go round Canoodling with my female cast. These directors can be described as the cream of the crop among men. They are admired for their magical touch, sought after by aspiring actors and idolized by female actors who later become smitten. Movie directors can be likened to Thai Buddhist monks. They come as pure, gentle, honest, sincere, peaceful and, among the qualities that turn them into kings or princes of all men. But I still stick to comparing film directors to Thai Buddist monks. It is more apt. Let us see how a monk fare in the game of love we are going to play.
Let us assume you are are in a temple full of monks and people.
One day, a group of pretty girls arrive (never mind from where). The leader of the group is an exquisite girl. Beautiful. Smart. Elegant. A gem. As you would expect, everybody is interestd in this girl. Mind you, among those seeking the pretty girl's hand are no common men either. There are millionaires and princes among them, I presume. But who does our heroin fall for. No prizes for correct answers, but if you choose the young chief monk as your anwers, you are right. The exquisite girl does not fall for the young prince but the young chief monk! I have witnessed many similar scenarios in my life. Unbelievable as it seems but it's true. Iit's unknown why monks (Thai Buddhist monks) are more attractive than laymen.
Movies directors seem to possess similar, mysterious charms of the monks. According to Michael Sanders, the father of the lucky director, it is inevitable for two person working together over a long period to develop feelings for each other. The chemistry was too strong to be swept aside even though you already have a commitment.
For Kristen Stewart, it was a total admiration, idolisation and then love for her movie director. For Sanders, a middle-aged married man, it was an opportunity not be missed. One in a million years. It was one of those things in life that we, men. all dream about, long for; and just like everynone else would, Sanders took it. It is like Thai Buddhist Monk! A beautiful, desirable and smart female devotee comes along and offers herself to him. He takes her.
You know why what happened between Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders and between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, happened? We are human. We have weakness. We make mistakes. Kristen Stewart screwed up, alright. But should we condemn her, call her a heartless person, and make an emotional video crucifying her on social media on the internet? No! It 's none of our business, actually. Kris Stewart can become a hooker she wants to. But at the same I am not defending Stewart or unconcerned for the hurt that Rob Pattinson was going through. I fully sympathized with Pattison when I heard the news.
Still, I would like to adivise him to hesitate in burning his bridges with Stewart. She said she loves (not loved) him, didn't she?
And Stewart, if her apology was sincere, I would advise her to be careful what she does for next few weeks. If she still wants Robert back should do anything that will drive him further away from her. The New Moon star should keep a low profile for a few days. Should not forget the taboid paparazzi are lurking somewhere waiting for another scoop of her indiscretion, again. If she values her boyfriend and wants him back like she claimed she did, she should try to help soothe his pain by not doing anything that can hurt him further while he's licking his wound.
True, he's moved out of their house; but that's because he was hurt, hurt bad, any man in the same position would have done so. But don't worry, he would recover, he could come back (if she wants him to). After all, you have not gone to a church with Sanders, exchanged rings and repeated after the vicar 'I do' yet (Thank God for that). In other words, Robert still has a chance. All's not lost. Just don't do anything stupid. Good luck!
For Pattinson, there is nothing he can do right now, except licks his wound. I know the temptation is to vent his anger on Stewart. Call her names. Make her suffer the same fate. Punish her. My advice is simply: 'Don't.'
While Stewart was unfair for doing what she did to him, he should remember he loved her, and I am sure he still does. That's why, I believe, he moved out from the house he shared with Stewart...he couldn't bear to look at her after what she had done. But most of all, I believe, he moved out to avoid quarrels that will inevitably erupt which will aggravate the situation and drive them further apart until beyond reconciliation. Robert did the right thing under the circumstance. Most of all, he shoud think of the good things and bad things they have gone through together, and last but not least, Kristen Stewart is not an ordinary girl! Goodluck!

About the Author Behind The Write-Way Gazette
Non-fiction
Welcome to The Write-Way Gazette
The Write-Way Gazette is part of my quest to become a published writer, and Blogger,
the parcel. It is a dream come true for me as I have always wanted to be an author and an editor.
It would be great to see my own book with my photo on the front cover, sitting on bookshelf in a bookstore. Or to be an editor of a book publishing firm who reads piles of submitted manuscripts everyday, and has the final say in who gets whose novel published. Or helm a magazine or daily newspaper.
