The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020

Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

How Do You Intend To Vote In November
If you are thinking of voting Hillary Clinton into the White House, please think again.
If you are thinking of dropping Donald Trump purely based on the accusations by his opponents (that he always made humiliating or demeaning comments against women, or ever touched women inappropriately), think again.
You know during a political campaigns of this magnitude there's some tolerance to the inappropriateness of behavior on both sides of the political divide. And we must remember that both Clinton and Trump would do their all to win.
Still, the low that Trump's opponents stoop to to do him in is rather..excessive, and unsjustifiable.
As if Hillary Clinton completely forgot her own principle with which she argued against Obama during the Democratic presidential nomination campaign, when she accused the Obama camp of discrediting her and undermining her credibility through under-hand tactics, saying Obama and his supporters should just focus on contrasting her abilities and capibilties with his own instead of trying to destroy her political career through bought third parties.
Although everybody then saw her as a shoo-in candidate for Democratic nomination, she was surprisingly pushed out by an inexperienced and unseemly unqualified Obama - whose birth right to run for president was very much in doubt then.
Hillary Clinton is terrified of the success - or shall we say unexpected success - of outsider Donald Trump the same way Obama camp was when John McCain roped in sizzling Sarah Palin of Alaska governor fame to be his running mate.
If you all read newspapers everyday (during the 2008 presidential election campaigns), you would remember that Sarah Palin was focussed on and put through a minced-meat machine. No efforts or expenses were spared ..to see to it that John McCain lost his bid to become the 44th president by blaming him for irrationally selecting an unqualified and dump Governor of Alaska to be his vice -president if he eventually makes it to the White House, and becomes president in case his inability or death stops him. Call it like hitting two birds at the same time!
I mentioned if you do read newspapers. The same question was more or less a penultimate step to the destruction of Sarah Palin's qualification to (deserve to) be president of the USA. Again, we must congratulate the media - led by the then MSNBC - for their leading, tireless role in championing the Obama cause.
If you do read newspapers, then, any newspapers, you wouldn't have missed the Sarah Palin interview -- by Kathy Couric then of MSNBC. The naive journalist - she was just a young vulnerable journalist - was probably given the order to purposely ask the vice-presidential hopeful stupid questions; anything that makes her appear as an uneducated and unintelligent person.
These were the famous questions: "Governor, how many magazines or newspapers have you read?" "What!", an unbelieving Sarah Palin asked in return, "I can't understand your question." Or, more precisely, "Why are you asking such a silly question!" she wondered. The young journalist then saw her chance to cause damage. "Okay if you can't understand my English, I will try to make it simpler and slower for you: "'Tell me honestly..how many magazines or newspapers have you read in your life? One, two, or none?'"
The fact that Kathy Couric tried to humiliate the Governor of Alaska by such stupid questions proved that she worked (for certain party) to destroy Sarah Pali's suitability to assume to country's highest office in the event something happened to President John McCain! And Donald Trump has become another Sarah Palin. That's where the similarity ends, though. Trump is for president, not vice-president. All the more important then to make sure he must fail in his bid.
They (his opponents) will throw everything including the kitchen sink at him to stop Donald Trump from becoming president and undoing all that had been imposed on America by the Obama's eight years of "Change you can believe in!"
The stakes are high. Those against Trump will stop at nothing to derail his bid. In 2008 the MSNBC was roped in, which means the formidable talk show hosts could be used to destroy Obama's opponents. They would unleash their no-holds-barred attacks against them, including Hillary Clinton herself then. After which, not Hillary Clinton that was a shoo-in. Obama was the shoo- in!
It's therefore inevitable that Hillary Clinton would emulate Obama's tactics in every way to win this contest.
And at the forefront of this campaign was Billy Bush! From CBSNEWS. Not MSNBC, this time. (They must have seen the result (the untold destruction inflicted by Obama on American society) of their naive cooperation with the Obama campaign, and decided to sit out this Hillary campaign to atone for their past mistakes.
But ultimately, after all are done and dusted, it will be the American voters who will decide, again, whether they will experiment again. And put a woman in the White House, just like they did in putting a black man in the White House. Clearly history is repeating itself, in that the Democrats are using dirty tactics in not contrasting their capabilities with their opponents for the voters to choose but destroying their integrity and credibility. It's hoped the electorate will not make the same mistake which they knew had cost America dearly, by voting a woman to become president.
For she has made too many mistakes already during her reign as secretary of states, doing President Obama's bidding. As an example, during the Libyan conflicts she was found (out) to have lied on the Arab League's purported approval to intervene in Libya when there was no such agreement from the Arabs. This fake fact she used to the full, to persuade other reluctant Muslim leaders to come on board.
In another word, this is a woman who would stop at nothing to achieve her goals.
She displayed this mentality starkly during Obama's tug of war with the Egyptian military. In successive visits to Cairo, secretary Clinton arm-twisted the generals to give way to the Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi to do as he pleased - with disastrous result!
If not for another general coming to stage a coup, after being emboldened by the massive demonstration by millions of Egyptians pissed off by Morsi creeping Islamization of secular Egypt, only God could help them. President Obama couldn't care less to lift a finger to help the demonstrators who bought into his instigation during his Cairo speech.
A lot of damage had been done by the Obama years assisted by Hillary Clinton. Their acts in toppling President Mubarak who undoubtedly was much, much better than the Brotherhood administration paved the way by Obama and Hillary Clinton, that replaced him! Do you wish to know more?
