Again, this proved that the Malaysian Chinese Association has really completely lost its usefulness. If a small matter like Jonker Walk closure was beyond its power then, that 's it.

The following stories may fire your imagination, pique your interest. Some say 1MDB is Malaysia's Sovereign Wealth fund; to others they asked what wealth fund when its total capitalization is just One million ringgit? But, then again, if you think you can look down on the pet idea of the Malaysian prime minister, think again. His idea has the potential of turning the now world famous - or shall we say, infamous - 1Malaysia Development Berhad into a giant corporation you can ever imagine - even bigger than Bill Gate's Microsoft! At least, it could be, if the original course is stayed. It was supposed to inspire Malaysians to think big besides advance growth, according to its slogans screaming out of giant bill boards throughout the country. 'Backed' by the finance ministry who owns it - which means money will never be the problem - it can only succeed. But..it didn't. It failed! That's why it may have piqued many people's curiosity. How can a company flush with cash and can borrow any amount (billions) anytime could fail? Well, this may be in line with your thinking. People have seen since its inception - I mean after its name was changed in 1999 from Trengganu Investment Authority (TIA) to the present - it hasn't done any business! I have used present tense deliberately. It hasn't done any business yet. I mean if you are in business you need to make profit or find ways to make profit. Or close shop. Oh, I had heard about their filings of tax returns and hiring of a couple of internationally known auditors to sign off on their balance sheets; but these concerned only the company's borrowings and interests to be paid. Two massive bonds were issued to the tune of $7 billions. To buy up power plants. Again I want to say if you are in business to make money even investing in independent Power Plants, it should be done with the view to making a profit. The decision may be long term or short term, it doesn't matter, it has to make money, or no deal. May be they have done the right thing. Maybe luck was not on their side. Still, the amount is staggering. I didn't know having or managing so much money can be a problem! But many - especially the Malays - have not given up hope yet. Yes, may be the durians are just ripening; may be they need time and may fall soon!

Malaysia's Vision 2020

Malaysia is supposed to be on its way to becoming a developed nation, by the year 2020. Will she make it (in less than five years -tick-tuck, tick-tuck)? There is no doubt the year 2020 is coming whether the country is ready or not, and if that will be the only requirement then Malaysia will attain that developed nation status on schedule. There is a question, though, Will Malaysia, or Malaysians, for that matter, be ready for that status as far as their affluence, quality of life's concern? Currently Malaysia's GNI per capita stood at US$10060. According to the World Bank high income economies are those with GNI per capita of US$12,745. And until Malaysians earn much more to be there, the developed nation status may not be achieved even by the year 2020. The futility of declaring a country a high income country when it's not, achieves nothing. May be even counter-productive; it lulls the country into false sense of success and premature celebration. Don't forget China reportedly overtook Japan as the world's second largest economy, but in actual fact China's citizens' ca pita income is a fraction of the incomes of the Japanese who earn $37,000. Chinese incomes range from $13,000. China's gross domestic product, taken as a whole, may beat Japan's, but in term of quality of life, and GNI per capita income, the criteria for a developed nation status, China still has a lot of catching up to do. That's why China still qualifies as recipient of Japan's economic aid meant for developing countries. Comparing with the Chinese per capita domestic product, Malaysia is even worse off. Unless the government bucks up and rushes to create more wealth for its citizens, the Vision 2020 dream may remain just that ..a dream.

Trump Is No Obama

When Donald J. Trump Became The 45th President We Heaved a Sigh Of Relief, Believing the Nightmare From The Muslims Were Over. But So Far That's Not The Case. Trump Not Only Keeps Quiet About Expelling The Muslims He seems To Have Gone Over To The Left or The Dems!
I am worried over Kim Yong-un's rhetorics such as to turn the US into ashes, for I am worried about President Trump's restrain on preemptive strikes even nonnuclear ones. Checked.
If we are talking about Obama as the sitting president, I might be a tad less worried. Checked.
Because with Obama, the military or the generals, for that matter, were all compelled by President Obama! You see, Obama despite being viewed as not very aggressive when dealing with the Chinese government or Asians, in America he was king; all the generals bowed to his demands or orders - not the other way round like with President Trump! Checked.
You know why President Trump often times alluded to his allowing the military or the generals, for that matter, a free hand to do as they see fit? Because they don't feel compelled by him. On the contrary, President Trump may hold too high a regard for the generals that he feels embarrassed to rebuke them, even when they make a mistake. Checked.
To my recall, when President was looking for a Ntational Security Adviser he revealed his penchant for generals. This made the generals feel needed and important; too important, if you will. Checked.
After a few of them (may be even more but we don't know) rebuffed his offers, President Trump obviously became desperate. And it looked like he didn't care anymore which general wanted the job - as long as he is a general. Granted President Trump needed to fill up to 5000 vacancies, but he still have to be responsible and decisive in selection - to avoid lowering his respectability and dignity which people or generals might take advantage of! Checked.
I was right - few of his cabinet picks have high respect for him. For instance, Gen. McMaster, Gen. Mad-dog Mattis and Rex Tillerson didn't find it hard to openly disapprove his campaign promises to ban Muslims from America and to impose travel ban on 7 Muslims countries (until we could figure out about them). Checked.
After his three cabinet picks threw his Muslim ban promise under the bus, his respectability bombed. The Muslims, including The Muslim Brotherhood or the CAIR, who were worried they may be deported, at first, sighed a sense of relief after hearing the defense secretary, state secretary and national security adviser openly defied Trump by saying they disagreed with Trump's policy to remove Muslims from America, even temporarily. Checked.
After that episode, the respect for President Trump fell like stone - and has been in a free-fall ever since. Whatever he did - even clearly for the good of the country - was opposed. Endless protests were held to demonize him and by extension, his name was besmirched. As a result most people in America either hate him or totally lose confidence in him. Even the judges, celebrities, human rights activists from neighboring Mexico have the gall to try to stop him in his tracks. Checked.
In this world credibility, respectability and wholesomeness are priceless. Lose them and you are done for. Checked.
I am not saying President Trump has been done for! But his credibility had been damaged badly after he became the 45th president that he's on the way. Checked.
I had tweeted to him hundreds of time spewing hundreds of advice. For instance I said he should not allow Hillary Clinton and the dozen ladies she recruited to continue to besmirch his name over MSNBC's Barry Bush's video which defined Trump as an arrogant man who liked to grab the ladies by their pussies and kiss them in the mouths! Checked.
I also told President Trump to stay away from China's top leaders like Xi Jinping; especially President Xi. This man is a killer deal maker. That's why China was frantic in pushing for a Xi-Trump summit. As he's facing a lot of problems from the Left or Dems, he should concentrate on solving his problems first. Of course, my advice fell on deaf ears. I told him if he met Xi he wouldn't get anything from China or Xi. President Xi was not in position to give big or important concession which may diminish his name back home in China where the People's Congress are electing new top leaders. Checked. Before the summit took place, China was clever in making known through foreign ministry official, Lu Kang, that South China Sea or its artificial island or structure building and 1-China policy are non-negotiable issues. Checked.
I was right President Trump ignored my advice and went ahead to meet President Xi, and hosted the guest and his wife to a grand dinner at Mar-a- Lago club in Florida..during which the President absent himself from the dinner long enough to hurl 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase. And true to what I predicted, Trump reaffirmed 1-China policy, stopped labeling China currency manipulator and might have tacitly closed one eye to China land grab in South China Sea! Checked.
He also got into psycho spat (war of words) with North Korea's Kim Yong-un. Kim Yong- un's rhetorics are nothing new; he has been spewing that for years during Obama's administration. But behind the screen of such rhetoric North Korea was able to pull wool over the eyes of the world and secretly managed to become a nuclear nation after it detonated five nuclear bombs (to the envy of Iran!) Mindful that North Korea has almost 2 millions armed forces and an unknown nuclear capability, many people wished Obama was still President, for Obama was not likely to 'hurl 59 Tomahawk missiles' at North Korea. As reality hits home people are worried Trump is our president now. He may not be forceful enough to put down his foot when faced with demands from Gen Mattis, Gen. McMaster and Rex Tillerson - to launch attacks against N. Korea like he did against Syria by hurling 59 Tomahawk missiles just because he was affected by the pictures of dead women and babies (Beautiful babies, he called them) after a chemical weapons attack which he attributed to Assad's army. And..if his daughter Ivanka were to tell him to punish Kim Yong-un, I am afraid he may do that. If the first daughter doesn't intervene in the Korean issue, we can count ourselves lucky! Checked.
